The CQUniversity Village Festival in partnership with Tourism Events Queensland (TEQ) have announced that singer songwriter, radio presenter, and TV personality, Ella Hooper will be performing at the this year’s festival, alongside Joe Camilleri and the Black Sorrows.
Village Festival organiser Rebecca French said, “as a seasoned performer Ella Hooper is well known, having performed for over 20 years as a solo artist, in an alternative folk band ‘The Verses’ and in her internationally renowned band Killing Heidi.”
“As such an iconic, well known performer and avid supporter of the music industry, Ella is a great role model for young female artists in the industry. I can’t wait to see her on our Festival stage.”
A multi award winning musician with 5 Arias to her name, Ella Hooper is the youngest person and first woman to receive APRPA’s Songwriter of the Year Award.
Hooper began her music career in the band Killing Heidi in 1996, alongside her brother Jesse, with singles such as ‘Weir’ and ‘Mascara’ becoming alternative rock anthems for a new generation of youth.
Hooper has made regular appearances on both television and radio, with two killer performances on RockWiz, as well as hosting regional music TV show ‘Radar’, online shows ‘The Backyard Jam’ and Telstra’s music program ‘The Road to Discovery’.
Held on the weekend of 10-12 of August, all performances on the Yeppoon main stage, including Ella Hooper, will once again be completely FREE and open to the public.
