I am delighted that CQUniversity has once again come on board to be a sponsor of the Yeppoon Village Festival. But this year I am especially excited about CQUni becoming the major naming rights sponsor, an arrangement I hope to see continue as the Festival keeps growing from strength to strength into the future.

CQUniversity’s support is bringing the iconic artist Pete Murray to Yeppoon, arguably one of the biggest names to have appeared on stage at a Village Festival in its 14 year history. CQUniversity brought Pete to town because we want the Village Festival to better engage with the youth of the region, and to cement the Festival’s rightful reputation as being the premier music, arts and cultural festival for the Central Queensland region.

CQUniversity is a strong advocate for the Arts, and together with Livingstone Shire Council we are developing plans to create a modern new integrated arts education, production and gallery facility right in the heart of the CBD. This infrastructure will help unlock the tremendous economic and cultural potential of the region’s creative enterprises, and it is an incredibly exciting project – so watch this space!

In the meantime, we are committed to supporting the arts in Yeppoon and we hope visitors and locals alike can get out and support (and enjoy) the 2016 CQUniversity Village Festival. Also, if someone could please put in a request to Pete Murray to play ‘Better Days’, that’d be great.
